The Beginning

And so it begins.

This was probably my first real attempt at painting (besides watercolor when I was little). I did this the fall of 2005 as an assignment to paint a monochromatic animal in acrylics. I used a photo I took that spring. About 11.5"x9.75" is shown with the mat framing it. Painted on the back of mat board.

Second attempt at acrylics. Monochomatic tarsier monkey. Painted on the back of mat board, framed with a mat, about 17"x11".

First oil painting. This is a mandarin duck on canvas paper. I did this June 2006. My first impression of oils were that they were easier to use than acrylics (though I only used acrylics twice) but took forever to dry.

This was my first attempt with water miscible oils. (Sorry about the glare.) I was going to finish the eyes but never got around to it.

Megan,

From what I can see, not much "confusion" in your art! Very nice stuff!

I'd be interested in seeing more, whenever you get around to posting it. And you might consider adding a little more info on how long you've been painting and what type of training you've had, or are getting.

Got to warn you though, sometimes the blog becomes it's own separate hobby!

Hey Mike,

Thanks for your input! I will definitely try to add more :) I have a few more to take pictures of already.

Also, I may switch this over to my "New Blogger" account. But I will change it so that it will have the same address.
